This is the herb known as Russian tarragon. It is a perennial that grows about 18" tall, and is prized for its mild flavored leaves. Plants are an attractive addition to garden beds and do well in pots and other containers. Use the leaves in salads, for flavoring vegetables, meat, fish and poultry dishes, and in vinegars.

When and Where to Plant:

Select a well drained location with full sun or partial shade and sow seed in early spring. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork, fertilize with vegetable food and smooth with rake. Firm soil over seed and keep moist.

Keep soil moist and weed free. Feed established plants in spring and mid-summer. Cut young sprigs for flavoring anytime after plant is 4 months old. Store extra seeds in a cool dry place. Heat and moisture severely reduce germination.
