The new “Grande View” Rain Gauge from Conant Custom Brass of Vermont features a patent-pending design incorporating large, easy-to-read numerals.

The design makes it possible to use a 2 inch scale for every inch of water, which supports the use of larger numerals and improves readability. In addition, the gauge sits inside the glass vial, so the collected water acts as a magnifying glass. This has the effect of widening the already large numerals by 50 per cent. The measurement gauge is powder-coated for durability and removable for easy cleaning. This design meshes form with function in a product particularly ideal for aging Baby Boomers, including those on Conant’s product development team.

The collection tube and funnel assembly measures 2 inches at its widest point and is 8 ¼ inches tall. The gauge is available in three models – garden stake, post mount and free-standing.

Standing 31” tall, the solid brass and glass Jeffersonian employs a float-and lever mechanism to move a dial across an arched gauge, which features cutout numerals and notches at precise intervals along both sides.
As rain collects in the glass vial, the float rises and moves the lever, which is attached to a stylish pointer that moves up and down the gauge. The gauge measures rainfall at 1/10” inch intervals, from 0 to 5.5”.

The Jeffersonian Wind Gauge, WG-1, measures both wind speed and direction. The stainless steel pointer is easily visible along the 0 to 40-mph scale. The cobalt blue glass counter balance points out the wind direction while acting as a damper to keep the speed indicator steady. Each wind gauge includes two 14 inch brass rods plus a pressure treated wooden stake for a total height of 42 inches, as well as a hanger bolt for optional installation on a post fence or deck rail. Total height with hanger bolt installation is 14 inches.
